Artist's Statement
I learned to weave in high
school and it has been my passion ever since! I love the feel of the yarns
I use. I love the colors and their endless combinations. New patterns and
textures fascinate me, but underneath it all, I love the process of
weaving. Every moment at my loom is filled with love, energy and
excitement.
I have chosen to work
primarily with silks in both my woven and dyed works. Silk has amazing
strength, warmth and luster. It dyes beautifully and is luxurious to
handle. I also enjoy using commercially produced silks for dyeing because
the weight and luster of the fabric are not things I can produce on my
loom.
For centuries the simple
process of weaving has been used to create things of great beauty, warmth
and comfort. When I weave, I feel connected to this incredible legacy. I
hope that each time a person wraps up in one of my creations, he or she
can feel the joy and love that created it!
